OUR HISTORY
HOW WE STARTED
1990

In 1990 the congregation consisted of eleven families from both Fort Myers and Naples. The Holy Liturgy was held once a month on Saturday in a private residence with Father John Ramsey.

1992

With the blessing of H.G. Bishop Youssef, On March 3, 1992 the Church was incorporated as “ST. MARK COPTIC ORTHODOX CHURCH INC.”

1992-2003

During this period, the congregation gathered for meetings at the Greek Orthodox Church in Fort Myers as well as other locations every Saturday of the month.

2003

With the Blessings of H.G. Bishop Youssef and under the guidance of Father Mikhail Aziz Abdou, on December 29th, 2003, the congregation purchased a small office in the Gateway Community in Fort Myers. It was then converted into a Church with the guidance of Father Youanis.

2006

On August 6th, 2006, H.G. Bishop Youssef blessed St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church with the ordination of our beloved priest, Fr. Joachim Boutros. We pray that the Lord will continue to bless his service.
